Company History

DoctorWriting-350ServingMed.com began as an idea in 2005. Juliette Siegfried, a health communications professional living in Madrid, Spain was teaching English to biomedical researchers at University Hospital La Paz. Interested in more work, Juliette posted old-fashioned paper flyers offering editing services to help researchers get their manuscripts published in high-impact, English language medical journals.

At that time, the then-secretary for the newly established Foundation for Biomedical Research at La Paz agreed to advertise Juliette’s editing services to the researchers at the hospital. By 2007, Juliette’s skills had expanded to include medical translation of research articles from Spanish to English. She and her husband Roland Combes, also an excellent editor and translator, decided to become a translating and editing team, offering translation, editing and proofreading (TEP) our clients.

MedResearch3-350Juliette and Roland’s reputation for high-quality medical editing and translation (and successful article publications) spread by word-of-mouth and soon ServingMed.com had clients all over Spain. In 2010, the team moved to the Netherlands, where they incorporated another editor, Laurel Avery, and another writer, Barry Wright, to accommodate the increased demand for editing, translating, and the creation of patient education materials in English. The ServingMed team also began working with Dutch healthcare clients as English language editors and proofreaders.

ServingMed now includes a total of 4 in-house professionals in the Netherlands, all of whom meet the needs of healthcare clients in Spain, the Netherlands, the UK, the USA, Germany, and South America.
